What happens during an upper eyelid lift?
The upper eyelids can be lifted with a minor operation. The cuts made for upper eyelid lifts are done in the natural crease of the eyes so that the resulting scars remain invisible. Depending on the findings, excess skin, fat and muscle are removed, or the musculature is tightened. By placing the incision scar in the natural fold of the upper eyelid, it is not visible after the incision heals.
How is the upper eyelid lift performed?
In most cases, an upper eyelid lift can be performed on an outpatient basis and under local anesthesia. Eyelid swelling can last up to two weeks. Most patients can return to daily activities after a week. The eventual results of an upper eyelid lift can be expected about three months after the operation.

After the upper eyelid lift
If you have your upper eyelids tightened, cool your eyelids after the procedure to prevent swelling and possible discoloration. In addition, patients should refrain from make-up on the eyelids, sunbathing or sun beds after the treatment to avoid a pigment disorder in the newly formed eyelid wrinkle.
